Marathon Guide — The New-Server 7-Day Mega Event

Updated 2026-07-20 lastwarhub.com

← Events · The Marathon is the 7-day mega event that runs in a new server’s first week. I’d read it alongside the day-by-day 7-day roadmap.

I still remember the week server 397 opened. The Marathon’s final goal — HQ17 — sat there on my screen and I let it stress me out way more than it should have. Now that I’m deep into season 6 and can look back, there was no reason to be chased by that number at all. This guide is basically the advice I’d give week-one me.

First things first: tasks don’t disappear

Tasks stay valid until the event ends, even if you don’t clear them the day they open. That one sentence changes how you run the whole Marathon. Don’t force the pace — pour your stockpiled speedups and resources into task milestones when you’re ready, and you bank growth and rewards in the same move. The final goal is HQ17.

Structure

New tasks open daily for the first 5 days, and each one rewards progress actions — building, research, training, heroes, kills. In other words, the growth you’d be doing anyway is the event score. And as above, open tasks can be cleared any time before the event ends. Skipping a day costs you nothing, so batch them whenever your resources pile up.

HQ17, the final goal, is the hardest band but comes with big rewards. There’s no need to force it with gems. It is worth attempting to the end, though. For the record: I didn’t make it, and my account is doing just fine in season 6.

Resource pacing — in the order I got burned

Week-one me dribbled speedups away on small training and healing timers. The early server events shower you with speedups, so I figured I had plenty — until the HQ push came and the tank was empty. Save your speedups and dump them when an HQ upgrade is the thing on the timer. HQ raises the cap on everything else, so build whatever opens up, but HQ always comes first (base development).

Heroes burned me too. Early on I spread EXP across six or seven heroes, and a month later an alliance mate who’d started the same week as me was miles ahead in power. I only caught up after going all-in on Murphy. During the Marathon, focusing one main hero is how you clear tasks and combat with the same investment (hero tier list).

And don’t over-train troops. Wounded beyond your hospital capacity simply die. Don’t blow past the cap chasing training-task points.

Logins & parallel rewards

The day 1–5 login rewards are high value — don’t miss a single day. The Marathon also overlaps with weekly events like the Alliance Duel and Arms Race, so doing the same action on the right theme day or phase banks points three times over (Events hub). Once that clicks — one building queue scoring in three places — week one gets a lot smoother.

Average pace

An average player hitting HQ10–12 in week 1 is doing genuinely well. HQ17 is a bonus challenge, nothing more. The Drone Center opens at HQ15, which for most people is a week-2 milestone — no need to force it during the Marathon (drone guide).

Common mistakes

The most common one is giving up on a task because you missed it that day — it stays valid until the end, so just clear it later. Frittering speedups away and over-investing gems into HQ17 are the two I covered above. And don’t solo the kill tasks; run them as rallies so the points come without the troop losses (alliance guide).
