I never expected a war game to have me calculating bank interest, but here we are. S5 Wild West was, for me, the season of routine. For almost two months my morning in Chiang Mai started with brewing a coffee (fitting, given the season’s theme) and running my bank deposits before anything else. It’s a season where the player who shows up every day beats the player who fights flashily — great news if you’re the diligent type.
Wild West is the golden wasteland map. The Coffee/CrystalGold economy and the Bank Stronghold deposit strategy are the core, with the Golden Palace as the big prize. About 8 weeks.
Three resources, three different jobs
Coffee Beans are the main currency for season building upgrades. Coffee comes out of Coffee Factories and gets fed to the Caffeine Institute to raise Virus Resistance. CrystalGold comes from zombie kills and rewards, and it’s the seed money for Bank Stronghold deposits. The three form one chain: beans build your buildings, coffee builds the resistance that unlocks higher banks, and CrystalGold goes into those banks to compound. Choke any link and everything behind it stalls.
Bank Strongholds — the heart of the season
Bank Strongholds are investment facilities: deposit CrystalGold, collect interest. Deposit terms start at 1–3 days, with a 5-day option added from week 2. You can deposit up to 6,000 CrystalGold three times per day, and higher-level banks pay better rates plus more alliance rank points.
In week 1, I mindlessly parked short-term deposits in whatever low-level bank was nearby. Only after actually doing the math did I straighten up. The conclusion is the textbook play: 5-day deposits in the highest-level bank you can access. Filling the 3-deposit daily cap is the entire compounding game — I even used my R4 powers to pin “Did you deposit today?” in our alliance notice. Every skipped day is a loss you never get back.
One terrain tip: Lv6 banks have no boss, so clearing the small zombies takes them essentially for free — use them as stepping stones to carve a path toward the center. And Sunday is Truce Day, when banks can’t be attacked. Get your capturing done on weekdays and treat Sunday as a rest day, like I did.
One prerequisite to keep in mind: banks Lv1–3 are takeable from week 1, but your Virus Resistance decides which bank levels you can capture. Keep the Caffeine Institute running or the higher banks stay out of reach.
The weekly rhythm
Lv10 cities unlock on Wednesday, trade posts reopen for combat, Friday brings warzone outpost construction, and the Golden Palace holds its first conquest on Saturday. Every weekday has its job in this season — once the calendar clicks, it’s actually one of the easier seasons to manage.
Priorities
- Day 1 Coffee Beans — Doom Walker first kill (~300k beans), Hero’s Return tickets, rush the Coffee Factory.
- Virus Resistance via the Caffeine Institute — the gate to higher banks.
- Deposit daily (highest level, 5-day) — the core of CrystalGold and alliance rank.
- One main carry to EW Lv20.
- Black Market shard top-up at season end.
Week by week
Week 1 — Coffee economy + Fiona EW + banks Lv1–3
Day 1: Doom Walker first kill for beans, then rush the Coffee Factory. Start capturing Bank Strongholds Lv1–3 as far as your resistance allows. Fiona’s exclusive weapon (missile) opens.
Week 2 — 5-day deposits + resistance
The 5-day deposit option opens. Don’t waste time on short terms like I did — switch straight to 5-day deposits in the highest bank. Push resistance through the Caffeine Institute to enter higher banks.
Week 3 — Center push + Stetmann EW
Use the boss-free Lv6 banks to open a path to the center. Wednesday brings Lv10 cities and trade-post combat. Stetmann’s exclusive weapon (tank) opens — as a tank main, this was the week I’d been waiting for.
Weeks 4–5 — Stronghold race + outposts
Friday warzone outposts to build and capture. The deposit routine continues (Sunday truce excepted). The moment the routine slips, so does your rank.
Week 6 — Morrison EW + Golden Palace
Morrison’s exclusive weapon (air) opens, completing the three EWs. Contest the Golden Palace conquest on Saturday.
Weeks 7–8 — Final race + Black Market
Close out CrystalGold and rank, then top up shards in the Black Market.
Post-season — Black Market
EW shard choice chest (8 daily refreshes, ~150 shards/season) → decorations (permanent stats) → free items first. Common details on the season index.
One last thing
Deposit every day — that’s where the compounding lives. But Sunday is Truce Day, so no attacking; do your capturing on weekdays. Short on Virus Resistance and the higher banks stay locked, stalling your CrystalGold. Fritter away early Coffee Beans and your season buildings fall behind. In short: in this season, diligence is a stat.
