← Spending Efficiency. Try counting the stores in Last War — you’ll run out of fingers. And every one of them runs on a different currency. Early on I was buying random stuff going “what even is this coin,” and only later realized that many of these currencies can’t be bought with cash at all — they only come from dailies and events. Which means what you buy first literally is the efficiency.
One-line principle
With cash-locked currencies (Honor/Alliance/Campaign/Season/Valor), buy permanent value (blueprints/hero shards/skill points) first; consumables (resources/speedups) later. And don’t miss the refresh windows. Those two rules cover most of store management on their own.
Stores at a glance
| Store | Currency | Earned from | Key buys | Refresh |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Diamond (Premium) | Diamonds | events/spending | high-value items, fast growth | always |
| Permanent store | Diamonds, etc. | — | speedups, resources, VIP time, stamina | always |
| VIP store | VIP/Diamonds | VIP level | VIP-only items, discounts (higher = better) | always |
| Alliance store | Alliance coins/contribution | donations/activities | teleports, speedups, resources, buffs | always |
| Honor shop | Honor points | Capital Conquest, Alliance Duel, PvP | gear blueprints, hero shards, gems | weekly |
| Campaign store | Campaign medals | campaign stages (alarm tower) | hero shards, resources | regular |
| Season store | Season medals | season activities | skill points, HQ skins, profession items, exclusive blueprints | per season |
| Trade shop | Valor/Bravery medals | biweekly Zombie Invasion, etc. | resources, exchange items | biweekly |
| Black Market | Cash/Valor, etc. | season end | EW shard choice chests, decorations | season end |

Priority buys by currency
Honor (weekly): legendary gear blueprints > hero shards > gems. Direct, permanent power. It refreshes weekly, so a skipped week is an opportunity that’s simply gone. I’ve made stopping by right after the weekly reset part of my routine.
Season medals: season-limited permanent value first — skill points and exclusive blueprints — because they vanish when the season ends. Having played S1 through S5 in full, I can tell you: every batch of medals I saved for “later” just evaporated.
Alliance coins: for operational essentials like teleports and speedups. Donate consistently, bank the coins, convert when needed.
Campaign medals: shards for the hero you’re raising. I spent a long stretch mining nothing but my tank-line shards here.
Valor medals: connect to the Black Market orange-gear route (fastest F2P gear) — see SvS.
VIP points: they accumulate for free — the daily VIP chest (up to 200/day ≈ 6,000/month) and alliance gifts are the main sources. The VIP store discount grows with your level, so just not skipping dailies grows VIP naturally (VIP details).
Diamonds: never waste them on instant-finishes or small skips. Permanent upgrades and key packages only. (See Spending Efficiency · Package Value)
Common mistakes
The most painful one is burning cash-locked currency on consumables like resources. That currency can’t be bought at any price — resources, meanwhile, come out of the ground. You’re trading blueprints and shards away for nothing. Neglecting weekly/season refreshes is the same story: Honor and Season stores just expire on you. And missing the Black Market EW shard chest — that’s the best window F2P and low spenders get to finish a carry, and if you miss season end, the next chance is a long wait away.
Deciding what to buy first, in one rule
Store guides can turn into checklists quickly. If you want one rule that survives patches: spend a currency on the thing your account is currently gated by, not on the thing with the best listed ratio.
The best-value item in a store is only the best value if you can use what it gives you. Speedups are excellent when a build queue is the bottleneck and close to worthless when the bottleneck is a headquarters prerequisite. Hero shards are the best purchase in the game right up until the hero they belong to is not in your five-hero formation, at which point they do nothing at all this month.
That is why store rankings and personal priority diverge so often. The ranking is about the store; the decision is about your account.
A practical order of questions
- What is actually stopping me right now — HQ level, troop tier, or formation power?
- Which currency addresses that specifically?
- Is there an event this week that pays extra for spending it? Check your server calendar — the weekly schedule runs on server age, so it differs per server.
Only after those three does the value table above become the deciding factor. Used in the other order, it is a very efficient way to buy things you did not need yet.
