Exclusive Weapon Guide — All 15 Unlocks and Why Lv20 Is the Line

Updated 2026-08-15 lastwarhub.com

Per-class hero breakdowns are in Tank · Aircraft · Missile; awakening is in the Awakening Guide. This page covers the exclusive weapon system itself.

The Last War meta is carried by the 15 UR heroes that have exclusive weapons (EW) — three per season, one per class, opening in weeks 1, 3 and 6. The names on the tier list and that roster are effectively the same list.

I’m writing this as its own page because I’d already written “Lv20 is the breakpoint” fifteen separate times across fifteen hero pages, and not one of them answered the actual question: with the resources I have, what do I push first? Here’s that answer.

Three per season, exactly one per class. Five seasons in, that's five per class — 15 total.

The same thing as a table:

SeasonWeek 1Week 3Week 6
S1Kimberly (Tank) ★DVA (Air) ★Tesla (Missile) ★
S2Murphy (Tank)Carlie (Air)Swift (Missile)
S3Marshall (Tank)Schuyler (Air)McGregor (Missile)
S4Lucius (Air)Adam (Missile)Williams (Tank)
S5Fiona (Missile)Stetmann (Tank)Morrison (Air)

One thing worth noticing: S1 through S3 repeat the same week-1 Tank → week-3 Air → week-6 Missile order, and then it shuffles from S4. So if you’ve memorised “my class opens in week X,” you will be wrong from Season 4 onward. Williams in S4 week 6 and Fiona in S5 week 1 are the classic traps. I was waiting for Williams in week 1 and didn’t actually get him until much later.

Why Lv20 is the real breakpoint

An exclusive weapon requires 5★ first and goes up to Lv30. Stage by stage:

StageWhat opensAppearance
Lv1Base stats + that hero’s signature mechanicWeapon slot active
Lv10Second enhancementVehicle/avatar skin 1
Lv20+7.5% to the entire class + third skill · awakening prerequisiteVehicle/avatar skin 2
Lv30Final skillFinal skin

What makes Lv20 special is that the kind of effect changes. Lv1 and Lv10 make that one hero stronger. Lv20’s +7.5% to the whole class applies to all five heroes in the lineup. That is the entire reason mono squads (five of the same class) exist — one weapon doing five heroes’ worth of work.

On top of that, Lv20 is the awakening prerequisite. Season 6’s awakening targets — Kimberly, DVA and Tesla — are simply locked out if you stop before it.

What about Lv20 → Lv30? Most of the cost lives in that stretch. For a small spender it’s generally better to stop at Lv20 and move to the next hero. I parked Kimberly at Lv20 for a long time.

Williams is the one exception. Where other heroes get a “final skill” at Lv30, Williams opens team damage reduction near the cap (~75%) and crowd-control immunity — the protection itself gets stronger. His is the first weapon I’d push to 30 given room.

Where shards come from — there is a free path

This is the most practically useful thing on the page, and a surprising number of players don’t know it.

  1. First unlock is that season’s battle pass, in the week shown above.
  2. After that season passes, you can top up for free from the black market’s exclusive-weapon shard selection box — it opens around the end of a season and is bought with Valor Medals.

Because of point 2, missing a weapon from a past season doesn’t mean losing it forever. It just takes time. That’s why I don’t buy out of “if I don’t get this now I never will” pressure.

I once got burned by a “Limited!” pack with genuinely bad value. Ever since, I convert everything to gems-per-dollar before buying, and exclusive weapon shards deserve the same treatment. There’s no reason to pay a premium for something the black market hands out for free unless you’re in a real hurry.

Valor Medals and the black market rotation are covered alongside the weekly cycle in the SvS event guide.

The small-spender investment order — the road I actually walked

One rule: finish one hero to Lv20, then move on. Having several weapons parked at Lv10–15 is the worst possible state.

I didn’t know that early on, so I spread XP across six or seven heroes and about a month later I was badly behind an alliance mate who started the same week I did. With no main, nothing landed. Consolidating into Murphy is what fixed it. Exclusive weapons have exactly the same trap: one Lv20 weapon beats three Lv15 weapons, because the class-wide +7.5% only exists at Lv20.

Order it like this:

  1. One main carry — Kimberly for tank, DVA for air, Fiona (PvP) or Tesla (PvE) for missile. 5★ → EW Lv20.
  2. Front row, or the closest thing you have — Williams then Murphy for tank. For air and missile, borrow a front row or substitute Lucius.
  3. Support / control — Marshall for tank, Schuyler for air. These two are the exceptions where a “support” is genuinely high priority.
  4. Branch into awakening if you have a target — for Kimberly, DVA and Tesla, awakening comes before Lv30.
  5. Everyone else — Stetmann, Carlie, Morrison, McGregor, Adam, Swift. Nothing here is urgent.
  6. Williams Lv30 if there’s room — the one exception noted above.

The one weapon that ignores class

As a rule, the EW Lv20 +7.5% only applies within the same class, which makes choosing a weapon the same as choosing a class.

There is one exception: Lucius. His exclusive weapon’s shield works across all classes, so it earns its slot even in a tank mono. Inside my own alliance there are several non-air players running him. If you’ve finished your main weapons and are weighing up “one more slot,” Lucius is one of the very few cards you can consider regardless of class.

Three mistakes people keep making

1. Chasing the weapon before 5★. The weapon requires 5★. Without the stars, no amount of shards starts anything.

2. Levelling several weapons at once. The mistake described at length above. A weapon below Lv20 contributes nothing to the rest of the lineup.

3. Going straight to Lv30 on an awakening target. For Kimberly, DVA and Tesla, what follows Lv20 is awakening, not Lv30. Awakening swaps the skill outright, so the difference in feel isn’t comparable to a Lv30. The full math is in the Awakening Guide.
