Troop-Type Quiz & Growth Planner — what to build, and by when

Pick a lane up top, then find out below how long it takes to get that carry where it needs to be. Either half works on its own.

First thing I tell every new alliance member: pick one troop type. Early on I spread EXP over six or seven heroes, and a month later people who started the same week were way ahead of me. I only caught up after dumping everything into Murphy. "If I level everyone a bit, I'll use all of them" is the most expensive mistake in Last War.

The catch is that "which type?" has a different answer for different people — free-to-play or not, whether you already pulled Kimberly, whether you live for SvS or for zombie event points. The six questions below are the same conversation I have one-on-one with new members. Every answer adds points, and the result tells you why it landed where it did.

Growth planner — how many weeks?

Once you know the lane and the carry, the next question is "when?". Exclusive weapons pivot at Lv20: that's where the same-type team buff switches on, and it's the prerequisite for Season 6 awakening. Getting from zero to Lv20 costs 1,130 shards; Lv30 is 2,880. A regular hero from 0 to 5★ is 975. Those come from the same table as our basics guide.

Weekly income varies too much between players for me to guess it. Look back two or three weeks and estimate how many shards for that hero actually came in — event rewards, shop exchanges, and the end-of-season Black Market selector all count. The planner works backwards from that number.

How the quiz scores you

Every answer adds points to tank, aircraft or missile. The heaviest question by far is "which carry do you already own?" — own Kimberly and the result leans tank almost regardless of the rest, because abandoning a UR to start a new lane costs that much. Spending style comes next: free-to-play and light spenders get a tank bonus, because the only complete F2P skeleton (Murphy, Marshall, Mason via SSR→UR promotion) lives on the tank side.

PvP-leaning answers feed tank and aircraft; PvE-leaning answers feed missile (Tesla's zombie and energy clearing) and tank (Kimberly's AoE). Loving one big single-target hit points to aircraft (DVA); loving wide sweeps points to tank and missile. Ties go to tank, because it has the sturdiest front line.

After you get a result

The investment order is the same for every lane: one carry to 5★ then exclusive weapon Lv20, then your front-line tank's weapon to Lv20, then supports. Spreading Lv10 weapons across several heroes is the most common and most wasteful mistake — nothing special happens at Lv10.

On a Season 6 server there's one more deadline. Awakening targets (Kimberly, DVA, Tesla) need their weapon at Lv20 before their awakening week: Kimberly week 1, DVA week 3, Tesla around week 5. If the planner's finish date lands after that week, you're not awakening that hero this season. Check which week your server is on with the Season Clock.

And don't forget the end-of-season Black Market, where you can buy exclusive weapon shard selectors. For free and light spenders it's the most realistic moment to finish a weapon — I set an alarm for it every season. Feel free to spread that haul across your weekly income figure.

Limits

The quiz organises your preferences; it isn't an answer key. If your alliance needs a particular type, that wins. The planner assumes your weekly income is steady, which it never quite is — event-heavy weeks and dry weeks will push the date a week or two either way. Shard costs are Season 6 values and can change with patches.
