Key points
- The newest server is #2308, opened 2026-08-07. That is 20 days with no new server.
- Openings normally came every 2-3 days. A 20-day gap is well outside the usual range.
- Monthly openings went from 86 in January 2026 to 4 in August — a 95% drop in seven months.
- Older servers have stopped growing at around 40B. There is no headroom left to sell power into.
- No merge announcement yet. But the longer openings stay frozen, the more merge pressure builds.
How steep the drop is
January was the peak and there has been no rebound since. The slowdown did not happen at one moment — it ran across seven months. The 2024 monthly average was 92; 2025 was 70.

Older servers are already saturated
Median power by server age flattens at around 40B near day 900 and stops climbing. The 960-989 day bucket actually dips to 39.4B. That is a population with no growth headroom left — which lines up with paid power packages being steadily removed over the past few months. The product was retired because the buyers ran out.
Newer servers have a tighter spread
Old bands (servers 3-1060) show a top-to-bottom spread above 1.5x, while the recent 2213-2244 band narrows to 1.11x. This is not proof that pack removals caused it: server spread widens naturally with age, so separating the two requires comparing cohorts at the same Day N. For now it stays an observation, not a conclusion.
What changes for players
Fewer transfer options. Restarting on a freshly opened server is effectively off the table. You now pick from inside your own migration group, so compare candidate servers on total power and recent SvS results first. → Server rankings · Transfer finder
No more new-server rush. The early-server competition, and the events and packages that came with it, shrink along with it.
Preparing for a merge is worth the effort. Nothing has been announced, but with population falling and openings frozen, a merge is the natural next step. If you plan to move before one happens, start by identifying the strong servers in your group.
Data source
Opening dates come from the server list, counting only servers with a confirmed open date (the first chart recomputes from live data on load). Power figures come from the crowdsourced server rankings, where collection time differs per server. Any new server shows up in the list, so that page is where you can check whether openings have resumed.
